World Premiere of "Four Concerts"

Commissioned by violinist and friend Leonid Yanovskiy, “Four Concerts”, for piano trio and soprano receives its world premiere performance at the University of West Florida with the composer at the piano. The four movement composition features poetry by Osip Mandelstam translated by Leonid Yanovskiy.

The Recording Academy Grant

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences awarded Lee Johnson $5,000 to record “Infinitude” seventh symphony with the Centre for Contemporary Music Moscow of the Moscow Conservatory.

CARTER CENTER PERFORMANCE OF “INFINITUDE”
Lee Johnson was invited to do a special performance of “Infinitude” for the Human Rights Defenders Policy Forum at the Carter Center. In attendance were Pres. And Mrs. Carter and other dignitaries from the international Human Rights community.

Lee Johnson has been asked to return again to Mankato to direct the Mankato Symphony Orchestra in their “Rockin’ the Quarry” concert. Some works by Lee Johnson will be featured on the program to include excerpts from Dead Symphony no. 6 inspired by music created by the Grateful Dead during their forty years of music making and cultural re-evolution.

March 2006

Johnson to sign the new high resolution 5.1 surround recording and DVD Symphonic Film Series V masterwork “Every Matter Under Heaven” with CC’nC Records for release in fall of 2006. The release will feature a fantastic film version of “Every Matter Under Heaven” produced with long time friend and creative partner, Clay Powers. The DVD will feature a full length documentary intended for use by educators to assist in the promotion of New Music In the Schools; an outreach organization created by Lee Johnson Music.
